Greetings All! What a terrific summer we've had at Rainbow Garden! Learning has been woven into a fun and rich variety of experiences. Dancing, science, math, motor skills, language, literature and of course music and art are a few of the areas we explored. Our Circus theme was a blast- The "show" under the parachute big top was filled with amazing stunts- standing on one leg! Tadah! Hanging on the trapeze! Tadah! Walking across the balance beam, diving through a hoop! Tadah! It was nice that so many family members came to enjoy our yummy homemade ice cream and clap and cheer for the performers! Thanks to the older siblings for helping to spin the kids in the little parachute. Thanks to Sherim for the splendid photos! Our dramatic play area set-up of a veterinarian office was fun for the kids. We looked at some vet books, and our walk down to Dr. Wagner's office was great! Pam Wagner was so kind to show us around, and the story (and x-ray) of the dog who ate a rock on two separate occasions made an impression on us all! I'm glad that Emiko's Mom & brother were able to share the experience with us. Pirate & Mermaid weeks offered great opportunities for the kids to explore ocean animals, read adventure books & use their imaginations. Pirate ships, mermaids, pirate & abalone (AKA Shelly) islands were all popular. Kids enjoyed bubble art, using straws to blow in soapy paint to pop onto paper in beautiful ways. And of course there were many water play opportunities- with boats, mermaids, pirates, sea animals, cups, potion making, etc!! Our late July goodbye for Emiko who moved & graduation party for Kindergarten-bound Nicholas marks another transition time for Rainbow Garden kids. As we start to head into fall we look forward to new friends and more learning opportunities and fun. Finding out what the kids want to study and using that as a platform to jump into discovery is a hallmark of this little school. Stay tuned for what next adventures in learning await us! |
